Niko was our third foster dog since this summer. He was chosen for transport to a shelter in Colorado and we were to have him a week until he departed on his next big adventure finding his Forever Home. Turns out he was sickly, so we agreed it was in his best interest not to make the trip, but to stay put and be nursed back to health so we could find him a home elsewhere. During that time Niko managed to bond with each of our three dogs, as well as my husband and I. Within a couple of weeks we were having conversations about possibly keeping him: "Seriously? FOUR dogs? What are we, hoarders? What will our friends and family think? How can we manage FOUR dogs? That's quadruple doses of Trifexis each month, four leashes to juggle and 16 paws to clean!" But you know what? We're managing just fine, and frankly we don't give a bark what other people think. Our pups are our children and they deliver endless smiles and joy each and every day. Niko has found his place in the pack and is delighted to have a brother (Leo) to look up to, a sister (Leia) to tease and chase and our Alpha Dog (Lily) to mother him. He does enjoy being a lap-dog, as he's trained Mom & Dad to hold him way too much. Thankfully the others aren't jealous, since they too were rescues they understand his current needs. Soon enough he'll realize he's home at last..........................
