My family had to put down our White German Shepherd Mix this past July due to cancer. We had rescued Dexter as a puppy 16 years ago and it still hurts to think that he's not around anymore but we have so many beautiful memories of him that will stay with us forever. Our two other dogs Merry and Luna (who are both Peekipoos) were missing their big brother and my mom, sister, husband and I were missing having a bigger dog around the house and in December of 2013 we started looking online at local shelters to see what dogs were currently up for adoption. We made a few trips out to local shelters and visited with quite a few dogs but we just couldn't find that "spark". Around the middle of January we ventured back to Foothills Animal Shelter and visited with a few more dogs who were either disinterested in us or thought we were living chew toys (which wouldn't be a good thing with our small dogs)... and then as I was making a last pass before we left and I stopped in my tracks when I noticed Brooke. She started wagging her tail when I crouched down and started talking to her. She got up off her bed and began scratching at the bottom of the gate. That is something Dexter had done when he "chose" my sister. We all instantly fell in love as soon as we got to visit with her. The only thing that we were afraid of was if she didn't get along with our other dogs, so we arranged a visit. The little ones were a bit scared at first but they all got along and we got the go-ahead to proceed with the adoption! My mom decided Brooke should be called Elsa, after her new favorite Disney character... and let me tell you, she certainly is a Queen! ~_^
Elsa has been learning all kinds of new tricks and keeps attempting to play with her older, smaller siblings but they are still adjusting to her rough-and-tumble attitude and try to stay out of her way ~_^ She loves going for walks and playing frisbee to get rid of some of her excess energy. We are so thankful to the people at Conroe Animal Shelter and Foothills Animal Shelter for taking care of Elsa (Brooke) and helping her find her forever home. We love her so very much!!!!
